JANUARY 2023 TOY OF THE MONTH: DX AbarenOh

INTRO
Let’s start off the first month of 2023 with our first “Toy of the Month” and it’s going to be the DX AbarenOh of Bakuryuu Sentai AbarenOh.
DX ABARENOH BACKGROUND
DX AbarenOh is a toy line based on the main mecha of Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger. Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger is Toei’s 27th installment of the long-running Tokusatsu or Japanese superhero show Super Sentai. Released in 2003, Abaranger is the second Dino theme after Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger (Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers). Abaranger was adapted as the Power Rangers’ 12th season Power Rangers Dino Thunder which was released in 2004.
Components and Transformation
Three robotic dinosaurs called Bakuryuus make up DX AbarenOh. The body of each Bakuryuus is draped in a distinctive white triangle pattern.
DX Bakuryuu Tyrannosaurus is the most fundamental Bakuryuu component of DX AbarenOh. The toy version has battery-powered features that let some parts motion, such as its tail, which simulates a rotating drill when activated.
DX Bakuryuu Tyranosaurus poses the greatest transformational challenge, and because one of its components is particularly delicate, you must exercise extra caution. The AbarenOh mecha’s materials seem less high-quality than those of other mecha from the 2000s, though I don’t know if that is just my perception. Despite this, the toy is still excellent and it appears like a lot of fun to play with.
Bakuryuu Tyrannosaurus was commanded by Abaranger leader AbareRed in the television series.
DX Bakuryuu Triceratops, piloted by AbareBlue act as the right arm of DX AbarenOh. Bakuryuu Triceratops is very easy to transform, just hide the feet then connect it to AbarenOh and that’s it. Another combination includes removing the DX Bakuryuu Triceratops’ tail and then connecting it to the removed-Bakuryuu Tyrannosaurus tail to form a sword. Triceratops’ heads can be removed and swapped into the left arm to act as a shield.
DX Bakuryuu Pteranodon is the smallest, and its contribution to AbarenOh is primarily cosmetic rather than functional. DX Bakuryuu Pteranodon’s lower feet part is simply turned into DX AbarenOh’s helmet, with half of its body attached to DX AbarenOh.

VERDICT
DX AbarenOh became one of my favorites despite how delicate its part is. It’s fun transforming it back and forth and DX AbarenOh’s design was really good. It has distinct diamond patterns on every Bakuryuu that can be distinguished from other Super Sentai mecha.
